Is MyBreadcrumbs free to use?
Yes! The core 3D globe visualization, route logging, travel statistics calculation, and digital passport stamps are 100% free. You can use the app as a guest locally or create a free cloud account to synchronize your travels across multiple devices.
Do I need to download an app or does it work in the browser?
MyBreadcrumbs is a progressive web application (PWA) that runs directly in any modern desktop or mobile web browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge). It is also installable on iOS and Android as a native home screen app.
Features & Functionality
How does MyBreadcrumbs calculate flight distances?
Distances are calculated using the Haversine Great-Circle Formula based on exact IATA/ICAO airport coordinates. Unlike flat 2D maps that underestimate polar routes, our 3D calculation measures the true spherical curvature of the Earth in statute miles or kilometers.
What travel modes can I log?
You can categorize trips into four primary transit modes: Commercial Flights, High-Speed & Passenger Rail, Automobile & Road Trips, and Maritime & Cruises. Each transit mode has a unique color and arc altitude on the 3D globe.
How do digital passport stamps work?
Whenever you log a journey with an arrival or departure in a given nation, MyBreadcrumbs cross-references the coordinates with international ISO country boundaries and issues a collectible digital stamp in your passport profile, complete with flags and visit counters.
Can I use MyBreadcrumbs offline during flights?
Yes. MyBreadcrumbs utilizes local storage caching. Your trips, country stamps, and globe textures remain cached on your device, allowing you to review your travels and plan new journeys even in airplane mode.
Privacy & Account Management
Does MyBreadcrumbs track my background location?
No. We do not use continuous background GPS tracking. You maintain total discretion over which journeys you choose to add, edit, or delete from your log.
How do I export or backup my travel data?
You can export your complete journey history anytime in standard JSON and CSV formats from your account settings, making it easy to archive or import into other GIS mapping tools.
How can I delete my account and data?
You can delete your account and all associated journey records directly within the app settings. Once confirmed, all personal records are immediately and permanently removed from our databases.
